We are extremely proud to offer a very unique and rare martial art at our dojo. We teach authentic Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu Iaijutsu, which is the Japanese martial art of swordsmanship which emphasizes drawing and cutting with the samurai sword in a single fluid motion. Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu is a koryu bujutsu, which means traditional martial art with a direct lineage back over 450 years to its founder, Hayashizaki Jinsuke Shigenobu, who developed this particular style of swordsmanship. Our training lineage stems from Masahiro Suginaka Sensei and his family of Kamakura, Japan who have trained in the Iaido for generations. |

Tran's Bushido University emphasizes traditional practice and application of the techniques in the Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu curriculum. This curriculum encompasses the practice of waza (forms), katachi (patterns using a wood sword or 'bokken'), and also tameshigiri (live cutting using a sharp sword). These three pillars of training build on each other to increase the student's focus, technique and peace of mind. We pay sincere respect to this art and its history by practicing proper etiquette and courtesy in our dojo as well as speaking in the Japanese language to the full extent possible. Practice of this art gives many rewards including a lifetime of physical, mental, and spiritual growth, as well as an enlightened and peaceful state of mind. |
